3D Breast Tomosynthesis reduces overall radiation exposure and improves image quality and diagnostic clarity.
Traditional, 2D mammography is commonly performed all over Australia daily.
CMI Marrickville is proud to announce the installation of the latest 3D mammogram at our Marrickville clinic.
3D mammography (Breast Tomosynthesis) is a simple examination requiring a 3 second exposure and 3 second breast compression.
Because it is a 3D image, the clever computers provide a distinctly clearer image of the breast tissue, allowing the breast tissue to be virtually ‘sliced-up’ for review.
The resultant image clarity allows our Breast Screen accredited and trained radiologists to rapidly diagnose breast conditions without the need for taking more pictures, as was previously the case.
3D tomosynthesis therefore reduces overall radiation exposure and improves image quality and diagnostic clarity.
As with traditional mammography services at CMI Marrickville, we will continue to bulk-bill all Medicare eligible patients.
